April 28, 2024.  What Do U(U)s Believe?  A Credo Service by Rev. J. P. Rodela & with the Spirit of Life Choir, directed by Rich Hrytzak. Unitarian Universalist theologian Thandeka says that all theology is biography.  As meaning-makers, we journey along a path of discernment between  who we are, who we were, and who we are becoming, and our belief system helps us figure out how to link one to the other.  My life has taught me that somewhere in the balance of “wanting” and “needing” rests the salvation of satisfaction.  I believe in the restorative power of human creativity.   I believe radical hospitality is an act of redemption.  And you –  what do U(U) believe?

May 5, 2024.  “We Are All MAD (Making A Difference).” Wendy Martin with Rev. Jess. This year the Canadian Mental Health Association has chosen May 6-12 as Mental Health Week and has centered its message on the healing power of compassion. Kindness is a vital part of our humanity. Board President Wendy Martin invites you to examine how long held beliefs affect our perceptions of mental health and how our word choices and actions can convey kindness and compassion.

May 12, 2024. “Nurturing Essentials in the Lifespan.”  Alison Longstaff Moore.   Today we explore ‘mother-energy’ through attachment theory.  How might we become ‘mothers’ to each other?    Alison is a Swedenborgian-trained minister ordained in 2009. She is a self-declared proto-Unitarian Universalist and has supply preached several times for UU congregations. Out of active ministry since 2015, Alison has been performing weddings, supply preaching, and operating her pastoral "Moore Magic Organizing" company with great satisfaction.

May 19, 2024.  “The Way of the Word.”  Rev. J. P. Rodela.  Today’s reflection on writing is inspired by poet Joseph Massey’s “Prescription”:  “To think through each word’s particular weather./To stand just far enough outside of the page.”  What’s your relationship to words?  Do you have a favourite?
