Board of Trustees
The congregation is governed by a Board of Trustees, which is responsible for ensuring that we comply with all provincial legislation and with our by-laws. They are also responsible for the administrative operation of the congregation and the expenditure of congregational funds.
The members of the congregation elect the seven members of the Board for three year terms. The elections are held at the congregation’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), which is usually held near the end of February.
Candidates for the Board are selected by the Nominating Committee, for which members are also ratified at the AGM. Terms for Board members are staggered so that only two or three positions are up for election in any each year, but sometimes the resignation of a Trustee or the inability of a Trustee to serve the remainder of his or her term will require an additional position to be filled during an election.
Board Members may serve a maximum of six years (two terms) in any eight year period.
The Officers of the Board (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary) are elected by the Board Members from within the Board. The Minister of our congregation also sits on the Board as an ex officio (non-voting) member.
